WREB was founded in 2012 by Stuart Vener and Emma Dowd, originally named AMFM247. The purpose behind the station was to allow anyone with a message and the voice to speak it, the ability to host their own radio show without censorship. At the time censorship was a problem on mainstream radio; if your message didn’t conform to the beliefs of the outlet or contradicted the mainstream media the show was censored and even cancelled. Vener and Dowd found this to be unacceptable as our right to free speech should not be impeded.
In 2014 WREB expanded to iHeart and FM stations across the country. By the end of 2015 WREB had 7 stations. In 2016 they expanded to television and created AMFM247’s Roku Channel. These expansions allowed their hosts to reach a broader audience with multiple media and outlet sources.
By 2018 WREB expanded to an internet radio station called WKLAP. This station was strictly online without any FM stations. It allowed for a niche based show to broadcast where they wouldn’t be able to on other networks.
In 2020 AMFM247 Broadcasting suffered a great loss with the passing of Co-Founder and CEO Stuart Vener. In October 2020 Emma Dowd became the next CEO and continued her production role as well. Dowd realized the need to reorganize the station without jeopardizing the quality or standards that the station built almost 8 years prior. Dowd’s vision was to bring on more stations and expand to more media outlets like print media. In 2024 Dowd established official digital call-letters for AMFM247 officially making it WREB. This allowed AMFM247 to become the corporate name and establish more stations and call letters that are uniform going forward. She also set up AMFM247 to become AMFM247 Media. This allows for multiple services both directly related to radio but incorporating podcasting, production, marketing, television and more.
Today WREB has grown to 14 FM stations, we’ve established contracts to expand our television platforms and growing our reach while conforming to the current trends within the broadcasting industry.
CEO / Producer
Emma Dowd was born in Bristol, CT on November 1, 1978 so as you can tell Halloween is probably her favorite holiday. She moved to Florida in 1989 where she attended Land O Lakes High School and graduated with honors. She was accepted to Virginia Tech and MIT for architectural drafting and design. Her path however changed and she got more into the arts, producing and videography. She started her own photography company in 2003 and soon met a band “16 Second Stare” that led her to where she is today. During that time she toured with that band on Cruefest 2. She’s collaborated with the management and members of Motley Crue, Jackyl, Cold, Seven Dust, Saigon Kick, KC and the Sunshine Band and more. She did videography and sound production for 16 Second Stare and was essentially the band manager till they stopped touring in 2009. Following the band she started working for a PR company to help promote bands and other amazing talents and it was there she met Stuart Vener who was a client. In 2012 she joined Stuart Vener, leaving the PR company to start AMFM247 Broadcasting with him. He saw that she has talent when it came to video editing, audio production, websites and audio in general. Early in 2013 they launched AMFM247 and its been a success ever since. In 2020 Stuart retired and handed the company over to her to lead into the distant future, ensuring that voices are heard and told across the world. It’s her honor to be able to be that liaison for so many talented individuals. When she’s not working she’s traveling, going to Disney (She’s a die hard Disney fan), going to other theme parks, exploring, visiting family and friends, spending time with her three dogs, a chicken and her beloved spouse. She’s an advocate to find a cure for MS (as she suffers from it), stopping animal cruelty, animal rescue and anti-bullying. She has her own show on AMFM247 called “It’s Emma’s World”.
Stuart Vener was the President of Wilshire Holding, a real estate company that aided people in upside down mortgages. Stuart was born in Los Angeles, CA where he lived for the majority of his life. He came to Florida and continued his legacy in the Sunshine State. In 2012 a lost and defeated woman came to his office to say goodbye, as she was leaving the PR firm she worked at where he was a client of, and he offered her a job. Together they started AMFM247.
Stuart was an incredible salesman, and passionate about his beliefs. Shortly after they opened AMFM247 Stuart started his own radio show called “Stuart Vener Tells It Like It Is”. After finding his show cancelled for his political beliefs he moved it completely to AMFM247 and he was passionate to help others avoid the same treatment.
Stuart was the pillar of the station from 2012 to 2020. Stuart passed away in July 2020. Upon his passing, Emma his long time business partner with the radio station assumed his role and vowed to bring it to new levels. His last wish was to never let this station fall, as it was his legacy and something he was extremely proud of.
Stuart’s impact on this station, his vision and his passion will never be forgotten and still drives the staff to continue to see it grow and flourish. There will never be another Stuart Vener ever! He was one of a kind.
From the moment I met Stuart, I realized how amazing he was. Stuart had one of the strangest senses of humor I ever encountered. He has a very large heart and one of the kindest men I ever met. I so admired his ability to sell, his keen ability for business and how he thought outside the box. He was not only a business partner, but one hell of a friend and kind of like a second grandfather to me. He taught me to be the person I am today with business, to never settle for less when it came to my dreams, and he helped me break out of my shy shell. I will be forever grateful that this man came across my path, he further solidified the notion that nobody we meet is by accident. When I got word he passed away, a piece of me died that day too. I lost one of my biggest mentors, friend and kind of a family member too. I miss him everyday, and everytime I step behind the computer to produce shows, and work with hosts I ask myself what would Stuart do, I wonder if he’s looking down at me and being proud of me. Its my HONOR to continue this station and keep his dream going. God I miss his sick sense of humor.
AMFM247 Media is devastated to learn about the passing of long time friend and contributor Fred Claridge. Fred and Stuart were virtually life long friends. They knew each other growing up in Beverly Hills, attended the same high school and went to work with each other at Wilshire Holding Company. Fred was the founder of the Certified Senior program in 2009. Fred was a consistent guest on Stuart’s show “Stuart Vener Tells It Like It Is.” Together their comedic antics would make their audience laugh and stay entertained because you never knew what they would say or how they would dress on TV. Fred was donned “The Stock Market Moron” when he was a Stock Broker that lost over a million dollars in one day. He was also touting Lulu Lemon’s stock on AMFM247 despite he consistently lost money on the stock. When Fred finally sold, the stock doubled in value by the end of the day (no joke). Fred was one of the sweetest, big hearted people I’ve had the pleasure to know. Five years after the passing of Stuart, the dynamic duo is finally together again. May he rest in peace.
